The Creation of… One-of-a-Kind Beauty
- by Brigitte Perreault
In the world of contemporary luxury womenswear, few designers embody the harmony of East and West as gracefully as Adam X, the visionary behind Adam X Atelier. His creations—eclectic yet effortlessly elegant— merge structured tailoring with fluid draping, revealing a sensibility that is both modern and timeless. Each piece reflects a reverence for craftsmanship and a deep commitment to conscious creation, where creativity, sustainability, and self-expression coexist with remarkable ease.
Trained in London under some of fashion’s most revered houses, including Alexander McQueen and Temperley London, Adam refined his mastery while contributing to prestigious brands such as Burberry, Ralph & Russo Couture, and Christian Dior Couture. His work has graced runways in Paris, London, Budapest, and Toronto, and his celebrated Kiss the World collection was recently exhibited at the Kiscelli Museum during Budapest Design Week—an honor that speaks to both the artistry and cultural resonance of his designs.
With features in leading publications across Asia, Europe, and North America, Adam X has established himself as a global creative force whose voice is as distinctive as his aesthetic.
Green Glamour World is delighted to spotlight Adam X in this 3rd edition of GGW Magazine, celebrating a designer whose talent, integrity, and vision beautifully align with the values of ethical, sustainable, and regenerative luxury.
Q&AWITHADAMX
Understanding theWoman Behind theGarment
Q1. Your work carries a very distinctive emotional and visual language. When you begin imagining a new piece, what are the first questions you ask yourself about the woman who will wear it and the world you want her to step into?
A. It could be inspired by anything—from a song, movie clip, or oil painting. The process begins with extensive research and exploration across art, nature, culture, and historical references. Through sketching and design development, these initial ideas evolve into pieces that capture the essence of the envisioned designs, from silhouettes and motifs to overall aesthetics.
DesigningOne Piece at aTime
Q2. You focus on one-of-a-kind creations rather than large quantities. How does this approach shape your design process from sketch to finished garment, particularly in terms of using only what is needed and avoiding waste?
A. With bespoke craftsmanship, each garment is shaped through thoughtful design and meticulous fittings rather than mass production. This intentional process ensures precision, reduces waste, and results in couture pieces defined by purity of design and impeccable fit.
CreativityWithout Compromise
Q3. Many people still associate sustainability with limitation, yet your work feels expansive and expressive. How do you ensure that your choices of materials and construction techniques honor both creative freedom and environmental responsibility?
A. At Adam X Atelier, fabrics speak of stories untold—luxurious, expressive, and ethically sourced. Every choice is an act of intention, where artistry and responsibility intertwine, creating garments that honor both the wearer and the world they inhabit.
Regeneration inDaily Practice
Q4. Regenerative fashion aims not only to reduce harm but to create lasting positive impact. In your own practice, what does regenerative thinking look like day to day— whether in sourcing, studio habits, relationships with makers, or how long a piece is meant to live in a wardrobe?
A. Day to day, regenerative thinking appears in the fabrics I choose, the materials I reuse, and the way I design. From responsible sourcing to close collaboration with artisans and tailors, every decision is made to extend the life of a garment and minimize what is discarded.
Conscious Luxury and ClientRelationships
Q5. Conscious luxury also depends on how clients engage with what they buy. How do you invite your clients to see their garments as long-term companions rather than seasonal purchases, and what do you hope they will do differently as supporters of ethical and regenerative fashion?
A. Adam X Atelier celebrates the human form through the art of body covering, imbued with cultural and spiritual meaning. Each design enhances the wearer’s beauty and transcends cultural boundaries through impeccable tailoring and couture draping, offering timeless elegance while inspiring new, personal ways to style and experience it.
